Introduction to Live Sampling is a brand new workshop that aims to give its attendants the tools and skills they need to sample music live, perform with said samples, and ultimately create their own arrangements.

This hands-on workshop will cover:
-Setting up a project in your DAW
-Sampling via direct input, audio interface, and internal audio.
-Chopping Samples
-Midi mapping effects and utilizing a midi controller for performance
-Sequencing and arranging your tracks

Suggested Materials for this class:
An iPad (encouraged) OR phone (android or iPhone)
- Koala Sampler with Samurai Upgrade ($9, for iPad, iPhone, and Android)
- AUM ($21)
- Tube AU: Audio Unit Player ($14 in app store)

As an alternative you can also use:
- A laptop

Further suggested materials:
- A midi controller (akai MPK Mini is a great way to start ($100))
- An Audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo ($80) is a great beginner device)
- To connect an audio interface/midi controller to a phone or tablet you'll need 1) a powered usb hub as well as 2) a usb to iPhone/iPad/Android adapter WITH charger port (search camera to iPhone/iPad/Android) to connect it to your device. Introduction to Live Sampling will run from 7pm to 10pm
