Milk Press Virtual Workshop: Poetry as Connective Groundwork

Free - $20.00

Part of the weekly Milk Press Virtual Workshop series, produced by the Poetry Society of New York. With instructor & Milk Press Editor-in-Chief Jackie Braje.Close observation, much like poetry, is a powerful catalyst for return—one that can return you to both your immediate surroundings and your interior self. In this workshop, we’ll use a number of generative writing exercises—and examine work by Joy Harjo, Susan Howe, and Liz Waldner—that will help us ground ourselves in the now, and honor the simple beauty and truth of our own everyday experiences. The intimate interiors of our own homes may serve as clay as throughout this workshop. The aim of this session is to invite all the “background noise” of our lives—memory, thoughts, to-do lists, etc.—to the forefront of our consciousness, and to find harmony between those two points. Hopefully these are exercises you can carry forward and use as a grounding practice. **This workshop will take place on Zoom.**
