Join Voluminous Arts for T4Tuesdays at Mad Tropical, 236 Troutman St. Brooklyn, NY. At this month's event we'll have a panel of trans artists talking about how they bring care and bodywork into and out of their creative practices, heavy heavy sounds from some exceptional DJs, and some hot new jigsaw puzzles in the middle room.
Before the party gets revved up, come meet us at open office hours starting at 6 where you can learn about the work our community is doing and get involved. Office hours is also a great time to co-work and/or organize with fellow trans people. Office hours is followed by skill shares, workshops, and activities at 8 where you can make friends, meet people and get ready to dance to the DJs of the expanding Voluminous Arts community.
For June's edition of T4Tuesdays we will have a panel of three artists from our community talking about how practices of care and body awareness intertwine with their creative work. Bringing in perspectives related to disability, neurodivergence, Indigenous methodologies, gender expansiveness, deviance, and much more, our panelists will join in conversation and knowledge sharing to stimulate thoughts about how trans people can care for ourselves and each other. Our panelists Crystal Peñalosa, Kelpy Cathedral, and Perrito Maldito will openly lead this experimental panel and discussion as well as provide ways to connect with them and their work beyond the panel.
At 9pm we shift gears slightly and bring the body into motion with music from DJs Robyn DeBank, Petal, and our resident Sodomoahigomorra.
All night we'll have jigsaw puzzles in the middle room for a lower stimulus alternative to the dance floor. It's also a v cute way to meet people if you're shy.
Toolbox Collective will be joining us all night to distribute free harm reduction and safer sex supplies as well as KN95 masks. Photos by @zippeee
