Fundamentals of Projection: The Optical Path is a brand new workshop the intends to help participants understand how projectors work: how they are built, what's inside them, how would you build your own?
This hands-on workshop will cover:
- The geometry of lenses and the basic structure of the optical path of light inside a projection device.
- Disassembly and discussion of multiple projectors: multiple slide projectors and multiple digital projectors-- both DLP and three-chip LCD.
- Building an analog projector from scratch: assembling light sources, lenses, and slides into a working projection device.
This will be a dive into the practical science and engineering behind projection technology as a way to more fully understand how light works within these systems.
Fundamentals of Projection will run from 7pm to 10pm.
- This event is in Bushwick, Brooklyn, near the Wilson L train stop or the Chauncey J train stop. Once you submit this RSVP you will receive an email with the address and further instructions.
