FAKE DAD
Andrea de Varona and Josh Ford aka Fake Dad make music in their tiny Brooklyn studio/apartment. Since the beginning of 2018, they have been operating as equal parts band and collective, often collaborating with all kinds of up-and-coming artists. With a signature production sound and distinct vocal style, they create a consistent and engaging framework in which to showcase the diverse voices that stop by. Although Andrea and Josh come from different musical backgrounds, they share a common goal: to create something that understands you. Fake Dad is always there to give you a friendly pat on the back and a warm cup of cocoa after a long, hard day. They want you to know that everything is going to be ok.
GRACE LUDMILLA
Grace Ludmila’s intensity must be experienced live. A hand knotted in her hair, the New York-based musician’s performance is equally essential to her music as the melody.
Originally based in Austin, Ludmila’s music career began early in the local scene; she released her first EP at age 12 and showcased at SXSW for the first time that year. Now building a following under a new name, Ludmila’s music balances vulnerability and rage with care, addressing complex issues and analyzing them through the ultimate catharsis of performance.
Her single “Hollow,” comes this spring after her December 2018 release of the intimate Dedications EP.
BECCS
Hailed as The Deli Magazine’s Artist of the Month and one of NYLON Magazine’s “favorite cool girls”, alternative singer-songwriter beccs has a “one-of-a-kind” voice that HuffPo said “screams originality”. Fusing elements of soul, alternative and folk, beccs explores the power and expanse of femininity with a sound that is as dynamic as it is vulnerable.
beccs’ songwriting has been awarded by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the International Songwriting Competition, Coffee Music Project, and a national social justice contest for her single “Scared Of Me”: a song that credits women who are inherent soldiers. beccs' video for her award-winning single "Therapy", "a stellar visualization of battling one’s inner demons", premiered on the front page of NYLON. Her debut EP ’Unfound Beauty’, Recorded by acclaimed producer Richard Barone and Grammy nominated audio engineer Steve Addabbo. traces beccs’ relationship to herself, her recovery and her struggle to find her own unfound beauty. beccs' new single By The Sea, which premiered on Audiofemme, marks the alternative singer-songwriter's powerful debut in music production and filmmaking in collaboration with producer Sam Mewton and photographer/multi-media artist Katelyn Kopenhaver.
“By The Sea” is a meditation on the symbiotic nature between love and loss: how the search for love can turn into the loss of self. While the powers of the sea can realign and bring us home to ourselves, there is also heartbreak in the homecoming.
