Sugar Rush: A Candy History Through Burlesque

Brooklyn, New York
$17.18 (includes all fees)

DUE TO RAIN, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED (AGAIN) TO MONDAY JULY 19, 2021. The original date was July 1. Then it was July 22. Now it's moved again.

Note: proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken July 11 or later required for entry. Excelsior Pass is the easiest way to provide this proof, but your CDC vaccination card or any FDA-approved COVID-19 test results will be accepted. You may bring a copy or photo of either.

Burlesque Apothecary: It's just what the doctor ordered!

Join us at the City Reliquary for Sugar Rush!, an homage to the history of candy manufacturing in NYC (on view in the museum). Bring your sweet tooth and your dollars as your hosts, Liv Dangerously and Dutch Baby, bring you a night of tantalizing treats. Prepare to get sticky, sugar!

SCHEDULE
Doors open 7:00pm so you can explore our related The Call of Candy exhibit.
Backyard opens 7:30pm.
Show begins 8:00pm.

This is an outdoor show. Come prepared, no matter the temperature. You're welcome to move around or head inside throughout the show.

Warning: This is a real burlesque show, with professional burlesque dancers. Anyone is welcome, but please note there will be sexually explicit performance, nudity, and sexually explicit language.

ACCESSIBILITY & SAFETY
The main entrance and indoor museum are entirely flat, but there are 4 steps up and 4 steps down to the backyard. The backyard is uneven with some platforms, but a paved area near the entrance is available with a view of the stage. Email jacob@cityreliquary.org with any questions or needs, and we'll happy to figure out if and how we can accommodate.

Masks are required indoors for unvaccinated attendees. Masks are optional for all outdoors. Email jacob@cityreliquary.org with any questions or concerns.

WHAT IS THE CITY RELIQUARY?
Reliquaries typically house the ostensible bones of dead saints. We’re a museum that houses the bones of New York City. From seltzer bottles to schist cores, roller skates from racially integrated rinks, to a burnt out lightbulb from the Statue of Liberty's torch.

WHY MEMBERSHIP?
Sustaining monthly memberships help us predict our finances, and survive through and beyond this pandemic. We can plan much better around reliable “subscriptions” than the whims of admissions & ticket sales. This show, like all our events, is free for members. Join at cityreliquary.org/join.

WHAT ELSE?
Please come prepared to tip the performers via cash, Venmo, or Cash App. Drinks can be purchased from Chef Sam with cash or Venmo.
