For many generations, the first people of these hills cleared undergrowth and dead wood to improve visibility and increase movement through the woods.

Franklin Chthonics maintains this tradition by building and setting many small fires ablaze along the landscape in a single night to ring in a season of play, work, observation and development of community events.

There will be fire-y meals, plentiful and hearty. There will be an activated sweat lodge with extensive views that reach out over the valley. There will be swimming and lounging. There will be play in the Goldenrod Mazyrinth and on the stones by the well.

There are plenty of places to sleep indoors, but camping on the land is encouraged. Tickets include lodging, meals from Friday night through Sunday afternoon, and beverages both quaffable and ceremonial. Rides will be arranged on a case-by-case basis. Pickups can be arranged from the Greyhound bus station in Oneonta, a 20-minute ride from Franklin.
