Why classify DIY as separate from commercially designed? Why do we value things that are deliberately constructed to be “broken” from the perspective of design principles? Join us for a conversation with local independent game designer Nicholas Fortugno on punk aesthetics in games. When acting against commercial interests by creating games that are anti-consumer, one needs another aesthetic yardstick to value the work. What makes a DIY game loved or hated? Does its value come from its Authenticity or its clever Irony? Is there even a measure by with anti-design and anti-consumer work can be valued?
On Sunday Feb 4th at 2pm, lets pose some controversial questions and see where the discussion goes.
This event is all ages, free, and open to the public.
