FOH: Ka Baird, Daniel Carter & Chris Corsano / Yimba Rudo

Queens, New York
$11.90 - $17.18 (includes all fees)

From FOH Organizer Che Chen: Fire Over Heaven returns from summer break with a rhythm heavy double bill featuring a new trio of Ka Baird, Daniel Carter & Chris Corsano and a record release set from Yimba Rudo...Made up of downtown veterans and Zorn/Glass/Braxton associates Jim Pugliese (perc), Kevin Norton (vibes/perc) and Steve Laspina (bass), Yimba Rudo use their unusual double percussion + bass lineup to move fluidly between tightly composed passages, asymmetrical grooves and free flowing improvisations. They'll be celebrating the release of their self-titled new album...Ka Baird, Daniel Carter and Chris Corsano are three musicians that hardly need introduction here. Ka Baird first appeared with midwest weirdoes Spires that in the Sunset Rise and more recently has been turning heads with her ecstatic flute and movement driven solo performances. Saxophonist and multi-horn player, Daniel Carter, has been a ubiquitous presence in NYC since the 70s loft scene, but his rare openness has led him to collaborations with musicians from every generation--and just about every underground scene--since. Drummer Chris Corsano has found himself equally at home playing free jazz, noise, and all manner of improvised musics and counts Evan Parker, Joe Mcphee and Bjork amongst his past collaborators. There appearance as a trio at Fire Over Heaven will only be there second show ever. Those that caught their first set a few months back at Pineapple Reality are still retrieving their jaws from the floor. Not to be missed...Please join us as we kick off our 2019/2020 season!
