The Poetry Brothel: Hitchcock

Free - $500.00

Welcome to a unique and immersive poetry event that takes poetry outside classrooms and lecture halls and places it in the lush interiors of a bordello. The Madame presents a rotating cast of poets, each operating within a carefully crafted character, who impart their work in public readings, spontaneous eruptions of poetry, and most distinctly, as purveyors of private poetry readings on beds, chaise lounges and in private rooms. For a small fee, all of the poets are available for these sequestered readings at any time during the event. Of course, any true bordello need a good cover; ours is an immersive cabaret featuring burlesque, live music, vaudeville, aerials, visual art, magic, mysticism, with newly integrated themes, performances and installations at each event.
In lieu of our summer vacancy, dear lovelies, we return to you this season with sharp-cutting wings, a gold-haired heroine, poetry, a dream. Join us Wednesday, September 26th, to discover what's behind our rust-red curtains. Expect suspense, intrigue, burlesque by Venatrix, Puss N Boots, Mademoiselle Estelle and Clara Coquette, live jazz by Jaquelyn West and the Strangers, divinations by Holy Crow, Nota Bene Bene and Erotic Estoeric, sketchy sketches by Too Loose, and of course, your favorite poetry whores. As usual the festivities will be presided over by your hosts Mister Charley, The Madame, and that rapscallion, Tennessee Pink. Doors open at 6pm with a happy hour from 6-7pm. The show runs from 7pm-9pm with private readings continuing until 10pm, at least. Themed costumes and/or vintage formalwear are encouraged but not required. This event is 21+
Let us come together like two taxis on Broadway, or like two hands; a perfect crime. We promise to leave you spellbound.
