Canadian-born artist Kayla Guthrie charts emotional structures and introspective landscapes via software and analog synthesis and song. Her 12" EP Blue (Mixed Media, 2015) was described by a review in The Wire to "occupy a twilight zone both lyrically and conceptually...as if Guthrie's thoughts and words coincide with an atmosphere that she contingently occupies for this moment." A visual artist as well as a musician, her work and musical performances have been exhibited or occurred at Real Fine Arts, Bodega, Off Vendome, JTT, The Whitney Museum of American Art (in collaboration with Nate Lowman's "Homage To Jay Defeo", 2013), MINI/Goethe Institut Curatorial Residency, Signal, Basilica Hudson, Pioneer Works, Knockdown Center, Deli Gallery, SADE LA, and others.
MV Carbon

MV Carbon is a Brooklyn based inter-disciplinary artist and musician. Her work encompasses live performance, sound, video, film, sculpture, recorded music, and multi-media installation. She builds environments that explore interchangeability, electronic intelligence, the human mechanism, perceptive states of consciousness, and the empirical force of nature. Combining field recordings, electric cello, amplified objects, circuits, synthesizers, reel to reel tape machines, and voice she weaves sounds into biorhythmic patterns.
Emily Shinada
Early Shinada is a writer and interdisciplinary artist whose work stages collective moments of witness around live relays of history. Through text, movement, video, and immersive installation her performances open the material culture of authority to cross-questioning by personal narrative and the entangled histories of law, ecology, technology, and economics. The collaged simultaneity of word, image, and sound produce a double-speak that Shinada uses to explore the interplay between lived reality and cultural experience. An active wisher of bonds, she is a committed collaborator and community organizer.
