ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Albert Alabedra was born in Barcelona, Spain and he has self-taught guitar at age of 14. He was exposed to flamenco at an early age with a mother from Cordoba and grandparents from Sevilla, the Spanish province of Andalucía, and grew up with the global influences characteristic of cosmopolitan Barcelona.
Later formally trained in classical guitar and electric guitar and then jazz and flamenco, Albert has used his versatile repertoire to create his own unique 'fusion' style.
Albert played the most important venues in NYC such as: The 55Bar, Cornelia St Cafe, Drom, Minton's, Shapeshifter Lab, City Vineyard, Rockwood Music Hall among many others.
In 2013 Albert recorded his album 'Barcelona-NYC' at THI Studios in Brooklyn with mastering legend Robert Honablue (Miles Davis, Santana, Barbara Streisand, Led Zeppelin) and featured the internationally acclaimed Chilean saxophonist & Grammy nominee Melissa Aldana.
This past June Albert just released his last album with ALBA Musik called 'Dawn' together with the multi-talented Barbara Martínez. The album features saxophone Tim Ries from the Rolling Stones, master kora player Yacouba Sissoko and 2 times Grammy nominee Gonzalo Grau among others.
