Happy Together: film screening and discussion

Brooklyn, New York
$6.63 (includes all fees)

The United States is not the only country in which people try to seek asylum. Now that the Trump Administration is trying to require people to request asylum in the first country they come to, we turn our attention to a situation where Chinese migrants turn to Argentina for social respite. In this 1997 film, Lai and his lover Ho arrive in Argentina from Hong Kong, seeking a better life. Their torrid relationship lives out among lusty tango bars and the salsa music of the La Boca sidewalks. They find themselves far from home and desperately lonely. Join us for our first fiction selection in our film series to support the Solidarity Room Project.
