Intro to TouchDesigner Workshop (TD101)

Brooklyn, New York
$33.01 - $54.12 (includes all fees)

Explore the foundational aspects of TouchDesigner in this beginner-focused workshop led by George Gleixner. This ~3 hour session will provide an introduction to the core functionality and potential applications of this powerful, multifaceted software.

// WHO SHOULD SIGN UP //
This course is designed for those with little or no working knowledge of the software, who have wanted to start learning but haven't taken that first step.

Those who are familiar with the basics should wait for future courses, as they may find this introduction remedial.

Prior experience with node-based programming and Python may be helpful, but are absolutely not required.

// MATERIAL //

- Foundations (User-interface, core concepts)
- Operators (Functionalities of different operator classes, when and how to use them)
- Techniques (Manipulating visuals with data, basics of real-time rendering and compositing, feedback chains, audio reactivity, and a potential introduction to instancing)
- Exercises (Hands-on exploration and building networks that combine different operator classes)

// REQUIREMENTS //

- A laptop with TouchDesigner installed
- A mouse (trackpads will be difficult!)

TouchDesigner is free to download and install from derivative.ca with the primary limitation being a resolution cap.

// GOALS //

This workshop should be an environment where participants are encouraged to ask questions and get direct answers as we go along, which is difficult when trying to learn via online tutorials. Participants should leave with:

- A foundational understanding of TouchDesigner's range and functionality
- The ability to competently continue exploring the software on their own and...
- To explore deeper or more specialized applications in subsequent, potentially more advanced workshops

This introductory workshop is also an opportunity to provide input on areas that participants would like to see covered in-depth as the focus on future courses.
