We are thrilled to announce that the Fire Over Heaven concert series will be returning with our first show in over 18 months on Thursday, November 18th. It’s a stellar bill featuring Jason Kao Hwang’s Critical Response (a trio with Hwang on violin, Anders Nilssen on guitar and Michael T.A. Thompson on drums) and FOH perennials Marcia Bassett, Sandy Gordon and Barry Weisblat also playing as a trio. A virtuosic violinist and explosive improviser, Jason Kao Hwang’s musical path has found him playing with creative music legends Billy Bang, William Parker, Sirone, Butch Morris, Anthony Braxton and Joe McPhee, while also leading his own mixed instrumental ensembles, writing an opera about Chinatown and conducting his improvising string orchestra Spontaneous River/Uprising. Critical Response embraces the electric and psychedelic possibilities of improvised music.

Proof of vaccine and masking while inside will be required. We’ll be limiting the audience to 30 so purchasing advanced tickets is highly recommended!
