* CANCELLED * FIRE OVER HEAVEN 5/19: LEA BERTUCCI & LUKE STEWART

Queens, New York
$17.18 (includes all fees)

The penultimate Fire Over Heaven concert of the season will fall on May 19th, with a double featuring solo performances from Luke Stewart and Lea Bertucci. Luke Stewart is one of the most prolific bassists of the moment, who keeps busy holding down the low end in the poetry-fire music collective, Irreversible Entanglements, Blacks' Myth, Ancestral duo, groups under his own name and countless other collaborations. His approach integrates the lessons of 60s free jazz and its descendents, noise music and punk aesthetics. He'll be performing a bass solo in honor of the birthday of Malcolm X which coincides with the date of this concert. Malcolm X's longtime collaborator, activist Yuri Kochiyama, shares this birthday as well. Lea Bertucci is a composer, multi-reed player and sound designer with deep roots in the New York DIY scene. Her recordings and performances mine the sonic possibilities of resonance, attention and place. She'll be presenting new work for solo performer. We're very pleased to be welcoming both these artists back to Fire Over Heaven. We hope you'll join us.

And stay tuned for the last Fire Over Heaven concert of the season on 6/2 with Beamsplitter + MV Carbon and LopezLopez (that's Cecilia and Brandon to you).
