PSNY's quarterly Salon Series aims to create a sanctuary where writers and literature lovers can meet, mingle, think, feel, indulge, discuss, listen, learn, and live life to its fullest!
Each event includes a featured reading and Q&A; with an esteemed poet celebrating a new book, a handful of short poetry readings by PSNY members, and a complimentary open bar throughout. Doors open at 7pm. Readings begin after 8. Cocktail attire is encouraged but not required.
This event's featured reader is Ariana Reines, whose latest poetry collection, A Sand Book, was release this summer by Tin House. Copies of A Sand Book can be purchased on site at the event thanks to Word Bookstores.
Ariana Reines is the author of Mercury (2011), The Cow (2006), and Coeur de Lion (2007). Her play Telephone was produced at the Cherry Lane Theater and won several Obie awards. Reines was the 2009 Roberta C. Holloway Lecturer in Poetry at the University of California Berkeley; she has taught master classes at Pomona College, the University of California Davis, and the University of Pittsburgh. She lives in New York, NY.
A special thank you to our beer, wine, and liquor sponsors, who have made our open bar policy possible! Thank you, Lost Poet by Winc, Brooklyn Brewery, New York Distilling Company, Absinthia, Pomp & Whimsy, and Women's Cocktail Collective.
Members of the Poetry Society of New York receive two complimentary tickets to each Salon. For more information about becoming a member of PSNY, visit poetrysocietyny.org/membership.
