Are You Goldsworthy?

Franklin, New York
$64.68 (includes all fees)

With inspiration from the work of British artist Andy Goldsworthy, this is the most stimulating event of the chthonic calendar. Every natural element and material of the land (stone, stream, seeds, flowers) becomes a potential medium for the interplay of order and chaos. Expect a child-like spirit of zeal and experimentation to seize each participant. Highlights often include a trip to the stone quarry, humans covered in mud and flowers, and floating sculptures And there will be lots to eat and of course swimming.

Saturday night we will feast upon the a brief presentation of films by Ken Brown. From the Psychedelic Cinema done in the late 60’s and on through many years of experimental ’docs, commercial work for Sesame Street and MTV, these gems have been made with Super 8, 16 MM, slide presentation and cell phone video.

On Sunday we'll play a game in the Mazyrinth a massive Goldsworthy sculpture cut into a field of goldenrod. The game requires that one camera per team photograph a number of symbols distributed in the maze in the correct sequence.

There are plenty of places to sleep indoors, but camping on the land is encouraged. Tickets include lodging, meals from Friday night through Sunday afternoon, and beverages both quaffable and ceremonial. If you would like a ride to/from NYC, purchase a ticket and we will try to find one for you. The worst-case scenario is we pick you up from the bus station in Oneonta. After 6 years of events we have arrived at the worst case scenario a total of 0 times
