Franklin Chthonics (pronounced THAH-niks) is a place where people and the land observe, alter and admire each other. Many traditions have been created and upheld there and I am really thrilled to invite you to take part. It is located at 1904 Bennett Hollow Rd, Franklin, NY; a 3 hour drive from NYC.
The Land
200 acres with many groves and fields. The Kagan family spends about half the year here and will be staying in the house during this weekend.
The Upper Tent is one camping area with a civil-war style tent on a multi-level platform that will be prepared as communal space. In front of it is a stunning pond with floating dock and breathtaking views. The Lower Tent (a new addition) is a 10 minute walk away and has a smaller multi-level platform under flying canopy. There is another pond situated close to this location.
A cabin between the two sites is off-grid, supplied by solar power and filtered pond water. It has a full bath, full kitchen, one queen sized bed, two twin beds and a couch for a 5th sleeper.
The fire hut (spitting distance from the Lower Tent) is terrific for ritual space and art-making. The barn at the bottom of the hill has wifi, power strips for charging electronics, a PA system and a 15’ projection screen. There is also a maze that has been cut into a 10-acre field of goldenrod across the street.
The Amenities
Catered dinners Friday, Saturday and Sunday night prepared by the Kagan family. If you’ve had Izzy’s food before, just understand that her father is the master chef and they have a lot of experience cooking for large groups. Also understand that this time of year is peak for produce.
PA system for Saturday night dance party.
Twenty foot bonfire that is sitting at the top of the hill just waiting for a big burn (Sunday night).
Three Walkie-talkies; one for each campsite and one for the cabin
A handful of coolers, ice packs, water dispensers and a hose at the barn for refills.
The Fierceness
You will NOT be allowed onto the property unless you can show me a negative coronavirus test that you receied within the last 72 hours. If you arrive without your results I will direct you to a hotel in Oneonta to wait for your results. Please make risk averse choices between the time of your test and the event.

Camping: $130 pp including 3 dinners
Cabin (5 spots available): $200 pp including 3 dinners
The People
This spreadsheet contains the invite list, ride shares and ideas of offerings. I am doing my best to curate the people, the catered meals, the sites and two or three awesome activities. Please do your best to create something special for the weekend. Or not. Just be.

Ten principles, yada-yada
There’s a super fucking cute town 10 minutes away with the best thrift store ever and solid breakfast sandwiches. There's also quite a few outstanding farms in a 30-minute radius.
