Stay cool with us on the banks of the LA River for a sunset performance from one of LA’s most singular instrumentalists, Walt McClements.
A solo accordionist (& often pianist as well as trumpeter), Walt has also been a beloved collaborator over the past two decades among artists like Mary Lattimore, Weyes Blood, Tara Jane O’Neil, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Dark Dark Dark, and we think it’s incredibly sick that he also plays trumpet on Leftover Crack’s third record that also features legends like Mischief Brew and Penny Rimbaud from Crass.
We’ve been obsessed with Walt’s music for years & try to see him live as often as possible. His patient and evocative compositions deeply move the spirit, and each time that we inhabit his music we find something new and transfixing. His music is visceral, cathartic, transcendent, we truly can’t rave enough! His most recent record On a Painted Ocean is a triumph, a journey, and in thinking about all of the places where we could gather together the LA River at sunset simply feels freeing and right. We just hope that this eve is a special moment for you, whether you love his music or are just hearing for the first time,
Donation-based! Bring a friend, bring a blanket + snacks, share the sunset, and we’re so excited to share this with you. Pin drop with rsvp.

Access info: The LA River bike path is accessible by wheelchair and other mobility devices from Ripple St. (the ground is a bit uneven when approaching from the Gilroy St. side). Performances will be visible from the bike path, but optimal seating is lower down the concrete embankment, which has a steep slope (not wheelchair accessible).
