Ok Cowgirl (Single Release) | Helenor | Alexia Avina

Ok Cowgirl is a Brooklyn-based indie rock project fronted by singer/songwriter Leah Lavigne. Since forming the project in 2018, Lavigne gradually culled the band (rounded out by lead guitarist Jake Sabinsky, guitar and synth player John Miller, bassist Ryan Work, and drummer Matt Birkenholz) from her Brooklyn surroundings – college dormmates, local bartenders, and the producer of the project’s inaugural releases all make appearances in the lineup. In August of 2024 the group released their debut LP, Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut, produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Indigo De Souza). This record and previous releases garnered praise from outlets such as Paste, The FADER, FLOOD Magazine, EARMILK, The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, Alternative Press, American Songwriter, and Under the Radar. Their songs have been featured in Spotify editorial playlists such as Best Of Fresh Finds Rock 2025, Best Of Fresh Finds Indie 2025, and New Noise. The seasoned live act has toured with Bear Hands, been an official SXSW artist twice, and headlined east coast and midwest tours. Earworm melodies, elements of shoegaze, classic country, and rock all intermingle effortlessly in the unique sonic world of Ok Cowgirl where emotions run high and lyrics live at the heart of every song.
