If you are considering pursuing your MFA, or are interested in learning more about our program, this is a great chance to meet IMDA students and alumni and find out what our program has to offer.
If you are opting to attend remotely, they will be streaming on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/UMBC.IMDA . The broadcast will begin at 6pm, beginning with their presenter Chad Eby (’06) and continuing with an introduction to our newest cohort, the class of 2023. They will then open to a Q&A session about the IMDA program—you will be able to ask questions or offer comments via the chat on Facebook.
If you intend to come in person, doors will open at 5:30pm at Current Space (421 N Howard, Baltimore, MD 21201). Please enter directly through the back entrance to the courtyard on Tyson Street. All attendees must be vaccinated, and masks will be mandatory to attend the event. The opening presentation will begin promptly at 6pm.
If you have any questions, concerns, or special needs for access, please contact imda@umbc.edu.
IMDA's alumni keynote speaker will be Chad Eby (’06), whose research interests revolve around the peculiar relationship between digital and physical: especially the unexpected residues, loss and corruption that results from moving back and forth between atoms and bits, map and territory, description and thing.
Chad works and teaches in the areas of interactivity, lighting, graphic and object design, digital fabrication and spatial audio. He has worked internationally with the Mobile Media Services lab at Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (the Royal Institute of Technology) in Sweden. During his tenure at Florida State University he co-founded formLab, a multidisciplinary digital fabrication research space, and then FAR, the Facility for Arts Research. He is currently an assistant professor at University of Kentucky’s School of Visual Art Studies (SA/VS)
