PSNY Virtual Workshop: Poetry of Desire

Free - $50.00

Part of The Poetry Society of New York's Weekly Virtual Workshop Series. With poet Bernadette McComish! How do we make sex sexy? Let’s come together in a world where the boundaries of desire and language dissolve, inspired by the sensual lyricism of e.e. cummings, the raw intimacy of Leonard Cohen, the quiet sensuality of Mary Ruefle, and the commanding passion of Carol Ann Duffy. Our generative workshop invites you to witness the art of writing erotic poetry that is both bold and tender, evocative yet restrained. Through guided exercises and close readings we will delve into the power of metaphor, rhythm, and imagery to express the complexities of intimacy, longing, and connection. Together, we’ll experiment with tone, from playful and coy to raw and confessional, and balance vulnerability with artistry, creating poetry that resonates deeply with readers and listeners. Come prepared to read, write, and explore the language of desire in a space that celebrates curiosity, courage, and connection.About the Instructor: Born during a blizzard in New York, Bernadette McComish is a poet, educator, and self-proclaimed poetry oracle, gifted with premonition and manifestation.
