The Musical Web Audit - Fall 2024

Free - $529.15 (includes all fees)

Welcome to The Musical Web, a class where we will be using HTML, CSS and JavaScript for making music and sculpting with sound. We will build musical experiences that draw on live web APIs, networking, and generative algorithms in the web browser.

In this 10 week audit, participants will work with a variety of tools to build interactive, spatial and generative sound pieces online. The code and software parts of the course will be complemented by tech-agnostic composition and sound design exercises including field recording, sampling, and digital synthesis techniques. Participants will leave with their own personal web based sound pieces and will collectively define what music can look like on the web. Some prior knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript is assumed, participants with no prior web experience may need to complete some additional tutorials (or the HTTPoetics audit) in order to get the most out of the class. If you are not sure if the class is a good fit please reach out to admissions@sfpc.study
