We are thrilled to announce our next show, on Thursday, November 17th, with two incredible duos: Lea Bertucci & Ben Vida and Leo Chang & Chris Williams. Lea Bertucci and Ben Vida are longstanding figures in the New York City experimental music scene - both noted for pushing electroacoustic music into highly individualized realms. They began collaborating during the Summer of 2021, while living on opposite sides of the same mountain outside of Woodstock, NY. What began as a series of conversations between friends, slowly formed into the development of a unique form of nonhierarchical improvisation that challenged and rethought the nature of dialog and language itself; intertwining their respective practices into a series of fluid compositions where the identities and locations of each artist become progressively obscure. Their recent Murmurations LP (issued on Bertucci's Cibachrome label) is well worth checking out. Leo Chang and Chris Williams are relative newcomers to the New York scene, but have each already made significant tracks through their solo works and collaborations, Chang through his works with other artists from the Korean American diaspora like eddy kwon, gamin and others and Chris Williams through his collaborations with everyone from Nicole Mitchell to Pink Sifu to 75 Dollar Bill. The two have played together in many different contexts, but their duo finds Williams' trumpet and Chang's electro-acoustic voice/gong and piri (a korean double reed) at its most potent and distilled. Their duo album on Dinzu Artefacts, Unnameable Element, is likewise worthy of a deep listen. We are very excited to be welcoming these two incredible projects to the series!
